We are mortals but blessed with divine qualities

Njakpien,

We are mortals but blessed with divine qualities.

Yesterday, the linguist of the acquatic realm. Mr. Crocodile, assembled all amphibians to a meeting to decide their new King.

In his usual signature back and forth trudging, he rung his adawuro, passing one settlement and another, both announcing and insulting. "Agoo, all idiots of the realm," he started. As you may be aware, the notorious old King is some few moons away from his grave. By way of preparing a successor, he has, by royal order, instructed me to announce to you of some thumbprint exercise on the seventh day of the seventh moon. Be warned that he will not go into his grave without this exercise being done.

Before this time, some amphibians were in positions that the community of amphibians entrusted but they had not met the expectations of the community of amphibians because they elected to listen to a few favourite individuals. They were their all. I mean their all. Not the ones the community of amphibians thumbprinted but acted as the one.

Njakpien,

As the linguist, Mr. Crocodile, finished his announcement, the assembly of amphibians erupted into a cacophony of chatter and debate. The news of the impending succession had sent shockwaves throughout the aquatic realm, and everyone was eager to know who would be the next king.

Njakpien,

Among the contenders were some of the most powerful amphibians in the realm who already weiled power, including the Mudfish, Shark, Whales, and even the cunning Octopus. However, as the debate raged on, it became clear that these power-hungry individuals were more concerned about their own families and interests than the well-being of the realm as a whole.

"We must choose a leader who will protect our families and our way of life," argued the Mudfish, its slimy skin glistening in the sunlight.

"But what about the rest of us?" countered a small but fiery Frog. "Don't we deserve a leader who will look out for our interests too?"

The Shark, ever the opportunist, saw an opening to exploit the divisions among the assembly. "I am the strongest and most feared creature in the realm," it boasted. "I am the only one who can protect you all from the dangers that lurk in the depths."

However, the assembly was not convinced. They saw through the Shark's empty promises and recognized that its only concern was its own power and prestige.

As the debate continued, it became clear that the true leaders of the realm were not the powerful and well-connected, but rather those who were willing to put the needs of others before their own.

And so, when the seventh day of the seventh moon arrived, the assembly gathered once again to cast their votes. But this time, they did not choose one of the powerful contenders. Instead, they chose a humble and wise old Turtle, who had spent its life serving others and protecting the realm.

The Turtle, overwhelmed with emotion, accepted the mantle of leadership and vowed to work tirelessly for the benefit of all. And as it looked out over the assembly, it saw a sea of faces filled with hope and expectation.

For in the end, it was not the powerful and well-connected who had won the day, but rather those who had shown that they were willing to put the needs of others before their own.

End.
